Under the murky waters of the New York Bay lives a small family of flying fish. Kevin, the youngest son, dreams of leading his family back to Barbados, a paradise of vast oceans, clear water and the homeland of flying fish. But his father scolds him for being hopelessly ambitious and dismisses Barbados as a fantasy. Furiously, Kevin decides to prove his bravery by swimming out to the open sea, where he is quickly surrounded by fishing ships. Unable to escape, he is caught and delivered to the fish tank of a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown NYC.
At the restaurant, Kenny meets Xiao Bao, a quiet Chinese boy who adores adventure and dreams of one day becoming a great explorer. But as the son of the restaurant owner, he is destined to continue in his father's footsteps and one day take over the restaurant. The fish and the young boy soon become good friends and Xiao Bao promises to help Kenny escape the tank and follow his dreams of returning to his homeland.

Kevin is a Flying Fish, who loves Seaweed Ball and hopes one day to go and play in Barbados. While proving how brave he is in New York Harbor, he got swept away by a fishing boat and thrown into a fish tank in a Chinese food restaurant. He likes to stand tall and shares the truth about what happens in a Chinese food restaurant to all of his new friends in the tank. He doesn't like pollution and his first human friend is Shabao. Luckily, his family pearly ends up in the same tank as him. He is very brave and a true leader!

Sammy, a member of the Department of Moving Fish, was born and raised in the 'tank,' located in the best Chinese restaurant in Manhattan. She is also the best engineer in the tank and is in charge of the lighting for all of their events. Although she is very intelligent she has never seen or heard of the outside world. |

Ben is the Life Coach of the tank and very optimistic, most of the time. He may be little in size what he lacks of in mass he makes up with in heart. He always wanted to be picked for the tank ceremony and it's a good think that he never was, or he wouldn't have met Kevin. He is proud to be Kevin's life coach and wants to go to the sea with Kevin. Oh, and don't make him nervous because he gets gassy. |

Liu has the most successful restaurant in all of Hong Kong and wants to win that same title in New York, stealing it away from DaBao. He is a mean and angry man who taught his son to help him in the kitchen. His son, ShaLiu, is the youngest champion chef in Hong Kong. He encourages a competition between their 2 sons for the title of "Best Chinese Food Restaurant in all of New York!" |

Jack is a bad guy and a robber. He stole Kevin's family pearl and dropped it in fish tank at the Chinese food restaurant, not knowing Kevin would soon end up there. He pretended he was from the city health department and offered free tank cleaning for select restaurants. He also pretends to be a Culinary Designer. He makes saving Kevin and his friends hard, while trying to steal back the pearl. |

Soabao is the son of DaBao, the best Chinese Food chef in all of New York. His desire is to be a Travel Journalist for World Geographic and getting paid to travel and write about his adventures. For school, he has to write a report on how the city of NY runs and finds the answers while trying to save Kevin, Sammy and Ben. Shabao and Kevin become friends forever and they help protect each other. |

DaBao owns the most successful Chinese Food restaurant in New York City, in the heart of Chinatown. His father worked hard to build this business and now he wants to pass it down to his son, Shaboa. Cooking Chinese Food is all that he knows. He loves his son and slowly realizes that they share separate interests. |

Danny is ShaBao's best friend. He gave ShaBao a shell form the Bahamas that his dad got him. He supports Kevin in his dreams and helps teach DaBoa who his son really is. |
